The Lake Express Ferry heading out of Muskegon Port and over to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The view from the Park encompasses both the South Pierhead Light and the South Breakwater Light. Adding two more West Michigan lighthouses to my goal of photographing all 20. I'm up to 16 now, need another trip to the Michigan northwest.
...and finally a proper trip out with my newly acquired Z8, well I have had it since early June, just too busy with work to get out.

It is inevitable. We learn to live with those scars, or they kill us long before we actually die. Small scars, large, scars as long and deep as the ocean—they define us; they become a part of our life map.

In this steampunk vision of a railway station, the line between the past and future was blurred, creating a place where the elegance of the Victorian era coexisted with the marvels of a mechanized age. It was a world where every detail, from the charming architecture to the smallest cog, spoke of a time where imagination and innovation thrived together in perfect harmony.

“An infinite, inscrutable blackness has annihilated sight! Where is our universe? All crumbled away from us; and we, adrift in chaos, may hearken to the gusts of homeless wind, that go sighing and murmuring about in quest of what was once a world!”

The present ground-plan, derived from the Church of the Apostles at Constantinople, dates from 1063. In 1075, the Doge passed a law requiring all returning ships to bring back something precious to decorate the basilica, accounting for the more than 500 columns of rare marble, porphyry, alabaster, and jasper brought back from the East. The interior is clad with 4,240 square meters of gold mosaics, mostly from the 12th and 13th centuries.

We have many daylily plants in our backyard, but rarely a flower. It seems we provide the buds as food for the local deer population. This one somehow was missed by Bambi and seemed to bloom with a special glory. It delighted us for a day.

The limestones were laid down during the Carboniferous Period some 340 million years ago. At that time, what is now the Ingleborough area lay basking somewhere near the equator and beneath a warm, shallow sea – rich in small ‘shelly’ creatures and corals. When these creatures died, their remains, consisting mainly of calcium carbonate, were built into a massive layer over an equally massive period of time, and were compressed to form the familiar grey/white rock so distinctively forming the great plateau on which Ingleborough rests. At least that's the current assumption.
There is nothing exotic about this old fashioned daffodil, but it blooms year after year in clusters all around my backyard garden. It's yellow cheerfulness promising spring even when the temperatures are shouting winter. A pretty generous repayment of a few hours of planting years ago.

I could have removed it but I liked the sense of depth the lens flare added to the scene. That day seemed almost too perfect to be real, where time stands still and the worries of everyday life seem to melt away. So I chose to gently digital paint it and am happy with the dreamy results.

The late day sun painted the landscape with a warm and gentle glow, highlighting the contours of the hills and illuminating the lake's surface with a soft radiance.
